YES! You can hire a Newborn Care Specialist if you plan on breastfeeding.
Many parents wonder if they should or could hire a night nurse, night nanny or postpartum doula if they plan on breastfeeding. A common thought is that the service is pointless as they will be getting up with baby either way. A Newborn Care Specialist can still help, and many of our families DO, indeed have breastfeeding relationships with their newborns, infants and toddlers. Many of whom, we actually support to success!
If you have a baby, then you’ll know…. feeding is only a tiny fragment of overnight newborn care. They will feed every 2-3 hours, which seems relatively manageable. Newborns, however, do not always return back to sleep and if they do… they don’t always sleep soundly or quietly. This is a struggle for new parents.

When Will You Sleep?
Baby doesn’t always settle right in. After bringing baby to nurse, we will take care of all baby care in a separate space so their breastfeeding parent can stay in bed and go straight back to sleep. We’ll burp, change, swaddle and care for baby whether they are asleep or awake during this window so you may peacefully doze off to sleep. As baby grows, we will also begin to encourage longer stretches of sleep, so the breastfeeding parent can enjoy longer, consolidated sleep patterns.
